A review of the video game, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim!

Bethesda Game Studios has just released a new chapter in their long running series called The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim! This huge open world/RPG takes place in a visually stunning fictional world, where every new direction or environment entered has a surprise waiting. It doesn’t matter if you play for a few hours or a few days, there will always be a quest, item and/or character to discover, taking you into totally new territory and leaving you with completely different results.

The different scenic environments in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim consist of rocky mountains, forests, vast fields, and ruined tunnels. Attention to detail brings each setting to life, while stunning visuals complement each scene, leaving you feeling like you’re part of that world. Freedom is a huge part of the game, whether it involves the enormity of the world or how you choose to live in it. You have options that consist of buying a house and living a simple life, living like a criminal and attacking everyone you meet, following the suggested quests or just wandering around the world aimlessly. The game leaves these decisions up to you, ensuring that no two players will experience the story in exactly the same way.

The game has several steps to follow, allowing you to decide exactly how you want to progress through the game. At first, all you can choose is a race (your player character). From there, you can try out different skills before choosing the one you want to specialize in. Leveling happens through the use of skills, which means that the more skills you use, the more those skill levels will increase. Once enough of these skill categories are leveled up, your character’s overall level increases. This allows you to make decisions at your own pace and at the right time.

Perk points are something else you get from leveling up, allowing you to spend them to learn new skills or save them until you’re sure how you want to use them. The more perks you use, the better your combat will be overall. The spell system has been improved, allowing you to cast a different spell from each hand. Another upgrade that cannot be left out is Dragon Shouts. Dragon Shouts give you the ability to breathe fire, slow time, launch force waves, shout ice, and call dragons. By searching word walls in environments you can learn more shouts which add to your abilities. Before you can activate any screams, you must fight a dragon and take its soul. Dragons are all over Skyrim, so it’s pretty easy to find and fight a dragon.

A review of the video game, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, convinced us that it is a visually stunning game with huge open world settings to explore. The ability to choose and customize your character brings excitement and strategy to the game. How you customize your character will decide the path the story will take. The game has a lot to do and will keep you entertained and coming back for more. We enjoy playing The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and recommend it to all players. This game can easily be one of the best RPGs we’ve ever played! Enjoy!
