Oily skin and pimples: a blessing in disguise

The title seems a bit peculiar, but I can say that if you delve into the origins of pimples, you will eventually understand how pimples can be considered a blessing in disguise. In fact, the main reason behind the formation of pimples or acne is the oily skin that many of us have.

Many of us do not know that the excessive exudation of oil from our skin gives us a wonderful gift from God that those among us who have oily skin will not develop wrinkles on their skin and their skin will look much younger than its actual age.

How and where do pimples form?

In the heat of summer, the opening of the sweat pores expands and the excessive exudation of oil deposits on the surface of our skin seals it and, in turn, traps foreign bodies such as dirt and microorganisms in the sweat pores. Once a thick layer of skin oil seals these foreign particles in the pores, they eventually turn into swellings, boils, and eventually produce pus.

They bulge out on our face, turning bright blood red in color and distorting the look of our face. There are areas where there is much more oil oozing from the skin. These parts of our body are our forehead, the area of the nose, the lobes of the ears and the area of the cheekbones.

The skin on our shoulders also oozes more skin oil and we also have pimples on this area of our body. Therefore, if we have small boils or inflammations on the skin of the shoulders, we should not take them in any other way; they also ate acne. Consequently, whenever we want to take precautionary measures or start medication, we must also include the shoulder area in addition to the face and head.

Other negative effects of oily skin:

All the negative effects, including the formation of pimples, are felt more in the summer season, when the temperature is above 40°C and the relative humidity is above 65%. In addition to suffering from acne or pimples, there is another problem that we simply do not notice and that is a feeling of ‘discomfort’ in the face when a thick and sticky layer of oil covers our skin.

That is the reason why we feel fresh and energetic when we wash our face or take a quick shower and apply soap or face wash type cleansers on oily skin. By doing so, we remove the thick layer of skin covering our face and ventilate the sweat pores so that the oxygen present in the atmospheric air energizes our sweat pores.

We feel a similar comfort when we rinse our face with cold water or turn the direction of the cold air from our car’s air conditioner towards our face. Have you tried this trick to feel cool in hot and humid weather in tropical countries like India? I usually do that to counter the extremely hot and humid weather in Delhi. I think when you rinse your face with cold water or expose it to cold air from your car’s air conditioner; the skin pores close their openings and stop oozing skin oils. In such a condition if you wipe your face with tissue. That would also be enough and make you feel comfortable.

How to get rid of pimples:

There are two ways to stop the formation of pimples or acne and the first is to apply some medicines on the pimples to cure them and the second is to simply not allow them to form. The best way to get rid of acne is to take corrective measures and not allow it to form.

Medications for pimples:

Calamine is a widely used medication for various skin ailments. Different compositions of calamine are available in cosmetic stores and medical establishments. Most of the cosmetics that are sold with the claim that they cure acne may have calamine as one of the contents.

These medicated acne cosmetics will work for temporary relief and not cure it. You will have to go to stop the formation of acne at the root and for that, the only way is to take precautions and corrective measures for its further formation.

Precautions and corrective measures:

1. Wash your face at least 4 times a day, summers, with a mild soap, Neem Soap*, Margo Soap*, Hamam*, Rexona*, etc. in summer (*indian brands) or any other non-greasy face wash
