How to meet and talk to eligible men

“Always ask the questions you want, life is too short to know if you’ll get a second chance to ask, and the afterlife is probably too long to wonder what the answer might be.” –Kaitlin Hollon

One of the biggest challenges many single women face is how to start a conversation with someone new. Maybe it’s been a while since you’ve met someone new, so let’s start there.

Set a goal to meet at least 5 new people each week. Why? Well, because if you’re stuck in a rut, you may never get a chance to meet your perfect man. Often you need to go to new places and try new things to meet someone you’re really interested in. You never know where he is or where you might meet him.

So how do you do this? First, think about the three men you most admire and ask yourself why you admire them so much. Then try to imagine if these men were single, where would they go and what would they do? How could you also be in the places where your Mr. Perfect would naturally be?

For example, if your Mr. Perfect is a successful business person, he or she may be interested in business or financial seminars. Can you expect something like this? Perhaps your Mr. Right is someone who likes to travel or drives a nice car. You could go to a travel expo or a car show. If your Mr. Right is physically fit, he could be spending time at the gym working out. Could you be in the gym before or after business hours? Even meeting other women is beneficial because they may meet an eligible single man to introduce you to.

By thinking about where your ideal man might be, you can increase your chances of meeting him. If you’re not ready to be so proactive, you may be able to meet someone new by posting an authentic and intriguing profile on an online dating website. This will give you the opportunity to meet men that you would otherwise never meet. Plus, you can see your options while you’re curled up on the couch in your pajamas.

What’s the best way to start a conversation with someone new once you meet them? I think the easiest way is to ask a simple and innocent question. Something like, “Excuse me, do you have time?” or “Excuse me, have you heard the weather forecast for this weekend?” A question like this is safe and often creates an opportunity for further conversation.

You’re not getting close to someone by asking a question like this, and most people like to feel like they’re helping you. You may make a new friend or even find a deeper connection. Are you willing to try?
