Ways to detox at the spa

We are bombarded with toxins every day. They are in the food we eat, the air we breathe, and the things we touch, but most of us don’t think twice. However, more and more people are beginning to understand the business of detoxification, that is, getting rid of toxins that accumulate over time in our body.

The good news is that there are many ways we can detoxify our bodies, and most of them are available at a nearby spa. Now you can be pampered and do something good for your body systems at the same time. Most of us have heard of the steam room or sauna where we sweat all the bad things that float inside of us. This is usually done after other treatments and opens your pores, leaving you feeling fresh inside and out.

However, there are numerous more sophisticated ways to detox. Take, for example, the lymphatic drainage massage, one that promises to stimulate circulation, drain trapped water and toxins from your body, and is performed using gentle movements on the face, neck, and body. Sounds relaxing right? Then there is the seaweed bath (which can also be done with salt). Here you soak in a large bathtub filled with algae, salt, or a combination of both and allow the minerals to enter your body while the water draws out the toxins.

If a bath is not for you, you can take a salt scrub or a seaweed wrap, and there are also mud baths and mud wraps that do the same, leaving your skin smooth and your mind exhilarated.

While some people would take the opportunity to go to a spa, for others it is too delicate and they prefer to do something a little less invasive. Step into ion detox, something many chiropractic offices across the country offer. Here you simply place your feet in a bowl of warm salt water and let the matrix (a copper fixture) push and draw the ions through your body, drawing out the toxins with them. You will be amazed at the color of the water when you finish your treatment! All of that was swimming inside you, those accumulated toxins that we collect throughout the course of every day.

Detoxing your body is a great way to get rid of what you don’t need, and heck, you might be pampering yourself a bit while doing it!
