USPS and autonomous mail delivery is the future

It seems like all the big tech companies are working on autonomous transportation. Automotive companies are already selling cars with semi-autonomous features and these technologies are already reaching the point where they are safer than human driving. A major brewing company has already had an autonomous truck deliver beer from its manufacturing facility to one of its department stores. Google has nearly a million miles of autonomous driving in CA and much more than in Nevada now. Yes, there are no people in the vehicle and I guess this is the future. Of course, if you drive for a living; limousine, taxi, delivery man, truck, bus driver, well, let’s just say their days are numbered; fear thought so, but this is the future of work; will not go to hell, but to robots.

In fact, I read an interesting article on the leading electric vehicle online media outlet “Charged” titled; “US Postal Service Commissions Prototypes for Potential Future Plug-in Vehicles,” written by Charles Morris on October 14, 2016, which read:

“The USPS has selected a design from Indiana-based manufacturer AM General (best known for the military vehicle Humvee and its civilian cousin, the Hummer) as part of its Next Generation Delivery Vehicle program, under which it will be designed and will build several prototype designs and tested over a period of 18. AM General will build a series of prototype vehicles that seek to provide “fuel efficiency and zero emission capability.” The Postal Service will determine production requirements and replacement awards for Future vehicles after prototype testing. “

This is wonderful, but the USPS needs to follow the program. The USPS must think more vision: these vehicles must be autonomous and deliver mail without people. Why not? You see, these vehicles follow the exact same route every day, they stop at each mailbox at an exact location, every day. The driver opens the mailbox and sends the mail; heck, even a simple robot can do that task and the autonomous driverless mail jeep can get you there, on time, every day, rain or shine.

Maybe this helps the United States Postal Service lose billions of dollars per quarter? And don’t worry about job losses, we can utilize dropout and allow early retirement for postmen. We’re talking about faster mail delivery, lower costs, no price hikes on stamps, and good use of great robotic autonomous car technology – it’s the perfect app for robotic autonomous transportation technology. Think about this.
