Three Things to Do Close to Home at the Jersey Shore

While traveling can be fun, sometimes you can have an even better time simply by finding things to do close to home. Just outside of Atlantic City is the third tallest lighthouse in the United States and the tallest lighthouse in New Jersey. Built in 1857, the lighthouse features a custom first-order Fresnel lens made in Paris. The lighthouse was renovated in 1997 and reopened to the public in 1999.

Visitors can climb the stairs to the top of the lighthouse to experience sweeping views of the horizon and coastline. The tour includes exhibits of tides and shipwrecks, 19th century photos and memorabilia, and the “Lighthouse Illumination” video presentation. Visiting The Wetlands

If you prefer a more relaxing adventure away from the hustle and bustle, check out the wetlands. A Wildwoods, NJ water park located on the Jersey shore has something to offer everyone. The three piers that make up the water park include Adventure Pier, Surfside Pier, and Mariner’s Landing Pier. Here you’ll find plenty of things to do close to home, including family-friendly attractions. Whether you want a relaxing spin on the carousel or prefer to run at 50 miles per hour on a 100-foot vertical loop, you’ll have the adventure you want at the water park.

There you will find two water parks facing the sea. They offer the ideal way to escape the summer sun with their children’s pools, play areas, speed slides and lazy rivers. You can even get a massage, rent private cabanas, or enjoy a poolside meal. These three piers also offer enough restaurants, shops, and games to keep you busy all day at the beach.
