Success Depends on Individual Attributes

concerns

People often wonder why they are not financially well off. They think they’ve done everything they needed to do, but they’re still nowhere near getting it right. The first problem is to identify why this is so. Some call it societal discrimination, others call it a lack of networking, and some say nepotism is not on your side. They probably think they can ride on someone’s behalf. Unfortunately, dwelling on an irrelevant conspiracy is a reason for failure. It’s always nice to network and meet someone who knows someone to do us a favor, but the most warranted approach is to be in control of your life. The rest will fall into place as soon as one is in control of one’s life and destiny.

Most of the ingredients for a successful life are in us, and it is up to us to apply them where and when they apply. Knowing what we can and cannot do is essential to guide our future. Employers don’t hire people because they like them, they hire them because they know they can do the job. They look for people who can come in and tell them what they don’t know. Employers are not willing to pay anyone to come and tell them what they already know. They only hire people as part of their resources to produce and sell goods and services, and they increase their market share to increase their profits. The problem is that an applicant has to fit the mole the employer is looking for. They want individuals with compelling appeal to their consumers. They are looking for those who attract and keep their customers, those who are creative and those with conceptual and aggressive skills. Some people will say they have an MBA and still don’t have a job. The question is; Do you have what it takes to land your dream job? A college degree doesn’t give anyone a job; it’s a piece of paper. Most of the requirement is the attributes of the individual. The characteristics of a job applicant play a very important role in the job search.

Barriers

A person who is confused may have a hard time knowing what they want. For a successful career search, the individual must:
(1) Know what you want and start with it,
(2) eliminate procrastination,
(3) avoid indecision
(4) stop taking one step forward and two steps back,
(5) choose a profession, close it and follow it
(6) don’t juggle too many things at the same time, eg work, school and family
(7) partner with a mentor you admire
(8) Avoid blaming others for your mistakes,
(9) avoid stubbornness and learn to follow advice,
(10) avoid the approach of is my way or the high way,
(11) learn to use technical time management,
(12) learn to be organized and
(13) stop the defensive reasons why you are failing.

If someone’s multi-year approach got you nowhere, then it’s time to listen to someone else’s ideas and follow the approach. Time waits for no one. Dragging your feet about what needs to be done takes a lot of time and costs money. Therefore, the sooner an individual decides what steps to take, the better for the individual. When you are in a bind, the best thing to do is to contact a professional coach and trainer for advice.
