Most Colleges provide both catered and uncatered accommodation (see ‘living costs’), and most offer cafeteria-style meals and three-course dinners in the dining hall. The vast majority of Colleges encourage you to dine in the buttery or dining hall, so it’s a great way to meet fellow students and get to know the wider university community.

The available facilities and amenities can significantly impact students’ daily lives. High-speed internet, laundry facilities, communal study areas, gymnasiums, and recreational spaces contribute to a comfortable and enjoyable living experience. Students should consider their individual preferences and lifestyle when evaluating accommodation amenities.

As a result, the most popular type of student accommodation in Cambridge is college-owned and managed. These are typically self-catered, but there are some colleges that do offer a limited number of caterered rooms. You can find more information on the individual college websites. If you choose to live in a College-owned room, you’ll be guaranteed that space for the entire duration of your course (with the exception of a year abroad if it forms part of your programme). You can apply to most Colleges directly via their websites.
